Irish Life was founded in 1939, with the Irish government
as a majority shareholder. The company was floated on the Irish Stock Exchange in 1991, with the government holding gradually
eliminated. The Boards of Irish Life Plc and Irish Permanent Plc agreed proposals in 1999 to merge and create Irish Life and
Permanent plc, now one of Ireland's largest financial services companies.
Irish Life Investment Managers (ILIM) is the asset management arm of Irish Life & Permanent plc.
ILIM manages money on behalf of a wide range of institutional & retail, occupational DB & DC pensions, large multinational corporations, charities and
domestic companies and is the largest manager of Irish pension assets.
Currently managing assets of in excess of €30bn., ILIM has seen significant
growth in funds under management since 1992 reflecting its recognised market innovation and leadership position.
ILIM's institutional client base. ILIM manages assets on behalf
of both institutional and retail clients. Our institutional client base incorporates a wide range of clients reflecting Ireland’s
economic growth over the past decade. Today ILIM manages assets on behalf of a range of domestic and multi-national companies,
Charities and family trusts, institutional & retail, occupational DB & DC pensions and charities and is
the largest manager of Irish pension assets. These assets are managed to international standards reflecting ILIM’s capability as a world class
provider of active and indexed investment solutions. The mandates being managed reflect the bespoke nature of the broad range
of clients requirements.

In 2006 ILIM introduced a range of Diversified Funds for both Defined Contribution and Defined Benefit.
In 2005 ILIM, recognising the difficulties facing the Defined Benefit pension world as a result of the regulatory and accounting standards, introduced Ultra Long Bonds Funds and Liability Driven Investments.
In 2001 ILIM introduced the concept of multi-manager fund management to the Irish market place. The aim of multi management as an investment process is to provide access to a range of international asset managers under a single fund structure.
In 1996 ILIM introduced indexation to the Irish market place. This introduction was in recognition to global
developments in fund management. The Irish Life Consensus Fund is the largest pension managed fund in the Irish market.
